December 19, 2019 Alex Mykhailenko, co-founder of Clean Energy Lab and Low Carbon Ukraine expert, spoke about energy priorities for 2020 at the conferecnce "Transformation 2020: From Turbo Mode to Turbo Development". Ilona Sologub (VoxUkraine) was the moderator of the panel discussion “Light at the End of the Tunnel: Priorities in Energy in 2020”. Together with Alex Mykhailenko, Volodymyr Kudrytskyi (Ukrenergo) and Serhiy Balan (DiXi Group) took part in the discussion.
The conference was organized by VoxUkraine with the support of MATRA, funded by the Embassy of the Netherlands in Ukraine, as well as by the International Foundation “Renaissance”.
“The priority for Ukrainian energy in 2020 should be to update the strategy. Energy strategy 2035 has been an important step, but its implementation is a chaotic policy-making and unjustified effort. The new strategy should be ambitious, have a larger horizon of vision (by 2050) and combine climate and energy goals. Its implementation should not be a bureaucratic piece of paper, but a step-by-step plan with clear performance indicators. All other priorities must be in line with the strategic vision of the country,” - said Alex Mykhailenko.
